Planner & Scheduler Position: Join a Leading Manufacturer in North Melbourne

The Company:

Our client is a well-established Australian designer and manufacturer specialising in custom-engineered equipment for a diverse range of industrial sectors, including transportation, infrastructure, and resources. With a history spanning several decades, they provide bespoke solutions to clients both domestically and internationally.


The Position:

As a Planner & Scheduler, you will be integral to the efficient operation of the manufacturing process. Reporting to the Engineering Director, your key responsibilities will encompass both planning and scheduling functions:

  • Translate engineering data into manufacturing plans using our business system, manage WIP routing, handle procurement (lists and orders), organise factory space and material flow (receipt, labelling), and ensure data accuracy for accounts. You'll also communicate progress to stakeholders and maintain key documentation.
  • Utilise planning data to develop workshop loadings and production schedules, track material movements in collaboration with the Production Supervisor, and provide daily schedule updates.
  • Work closely with sales, supervisors, and engineering to provide feedback on capacity and progress, provide cover for the Production Supervisor as needed, participate in and potentially lead production meetings, and assist with job-related problem-solving alongside trades personnel.
  • Operate within the established quality framework, ensure accurate dissemination of engineering information, participate in audits, and maintain precise manufacturing records.


About you:

You will have proven experience in planning & scheduling within an engineering or manufacturing environment, have strong attention to detail and be able to prioritise based on operational requirements. As a successful candidate seeking a long-term role, you will also possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Proficiency in planning and scheduling software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes. (Raw material, commercial items, turning, milling, welding, painting)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with all stakeholders
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
