THE ROLE
Due to continued growth and a commitment to operational excellence, our client, a prominent player in the oil & gas sector, is seeking a highly experienced IECC Systems Specialist to join their Brisbane-based team. This pivotal role provides technical oversight and drives continuous improvement across all instrumentation, electrical, control, and communication systems.

- Lead the design, review, and implementation of brownfield modifications, rigorously ensuring compliance with both Australian standards and internal company policies, especially for hazardous area classification and functional safety.
- Drive initiatives to enhance asset reliability, develop long-term plans to manage obsolescence, and champion excellence in maintenance strategy and execution.
- Provide essential IECC support across small and large capital projects, including developing detailed scopes, specifications, and commissioning documentation.
- Oversee key hardware/software vendors and third-party engineering design contractors, ensuring high-quality delivery for SCADA, SIS, fire & gas systems, and automation.
- Manage and document critical function testing, act as the Technical Authority for IECC matters (including Management of Change), and actively participate in incident investigations.
- Foster strong internal relationships across all relevant teams and provide accurate, timely reports on asset and project performance.

You are a highly analytical and experienced Instrumentation, Electrical, and Control Systems Engineer with a deep understanding of complex oil & gas operations. You thrive on technical challenges, have a meticulous eye for detail, and possess a proven ability to drive both compliance and improvement. You will ideally possess:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Control Systems Engineering (or equivalent).
- A minimum of 5 years' recent experience in a similar technical oversight role within the oil & gas or major hazard facility sector.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with process control, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), SCADA, fire and gas systems, automation, hazardous area compliance, and gas metering.
- Strong knowledge of PLCs and HMIs (experience with Allen Bradley, DeltaV, and Citect is highly desirable).
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose complex technical issues.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to develop scopes, specifications, and commissioning documents.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, manage multiple stakeholders with competing priorities, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
