Dive on in and be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing projects related to the extraction and production of oil and gas.



THE ROLE

Due to growth and a commitment to operational excellence, our client, a prominent player in the oil & gas sector, is seeking a highly experienced Petroleum Engineer to join their Brisbane-based team. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing projects related to the extraction and production of oil and gas. While primarily based in Brisbane, this role involves regular travel to Surat Basin. Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead daily operations of the LPG plant, ensuring safe and efficient oil, gas and LPG production
  • Act as Site Safety Manager under the Queensland Petroleum & Gas Act, promoting a strong safety culture
  • Supervise a multidisciplinary team and ensure competency, compliance, and engagement across site staff and contractors
  • Oversee emergency response readiness, incident investigations and compliance with all HSE systems and permits
  • Manage plant performance, shutdowns, gas nominations and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support planning, budgeting and delivery of operational targets in consultation with the operations management team



ABOUT YOU

You are a highly analytical and experienced Instrumentation, Electrical, and Control Systems Engineer with a deep understanding of complex oil & gas operations. You thrive on technical challenges, have a meticulous eye for detail, and possess a proven ability to drive both compliance and improvement. You will ideally possess:

  • Extensive oil and gas production facility experience, including complex site-based activities such as production, wells, pipelines and workover rigs
  • Certificate III in Process Plant Operations or similar
  • At least three years’ experience in an operational management role
  • Strong knowledge of Queensland P&G Act compliance
  • Proven leadership in safety-critical environments, preferably for hydrocarbon/ compression facilities
  • Working knowledge and application of Facility Integrity Management Plans
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A collaborative, practical approach to problem-solving and decision-making
  • Able to work permanently in Australia
