My client is market leading in design and manufacturing of custom special-purpose equipment solutions for customers worldwide.


THE ROLE

The Dual Trade Service Technician is responsible for in-field installations, commissioning, fault finding, and repairs of complex special purpose equipment across heavy industry sectors. This role requires a high level of independence, clear and timely communication, and the ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Given the electrical and mechanical complexity of the equipment, this role is ideally suited for a highly skilled individual possessing the specified dual trade qualification.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults and performing operational maintenance of machines.
  • Overhauling and repairing mechanical parts, fluid power equipment, and control systems.
  • Site installation and commissioning of complex plant & equipment, ensuring compliance with A Grade electrical standards.
  • On-site customer support activities, including writing detailed service reports and ordering spare parts.


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is a full-time permanent position offering a highly competitive package that reflects the specialized dual trade requirement.

You will receive an excellent hourly rate of $53.68 per hour for all local work. When working away from home, the hourly rate increases to $58.68 per hour and is supplemented by a Living Away From Home Allowance (LAFHA) of $100 per night. Overtime is paid at applicable penalty rates. The package also includes generous superannuation.


ABOUT YOU

You will possess the technical expertise to manage both the electrical and mechanical aspects of specialized machinery. You will have exceptional attention to detail and proficiency in interpreting complex electrical schematics and engineering drawings & specifications.

As a successful candidate seeking a long-term role, you must possess the following core qualification and skills:

Essential Qualifications

  • Mandatory Dual Trade Qualification: Hold both an A Grade Electrician Licence and a Certificate III or IV Engineering (Mechanical Trade/Fitter).

Required Skills & Attributes

  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude, with proven experience in fitting fabricated metal parts, assembling metal parts, subassemblies, and conducting electrical wiring/testing.
  • A strong understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic circuits and components.
  • Proficiency in fault-finding control systems and industrial electrical components.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally and clearly with clients.
  • Have a current driver's license and the ability to travel locally, interstate, and internationally when required.
  • Be physically fit for manual tasks (e.g., lifting, bending, twisting, exerting pressure).
