THE COMPANY

In business for over 50 years, our client is an established market leader and one of the country's premier packaging machinery suppliers. Specialising in the supply, resale, and commissioning of high quality equipment, they partner with the Pharmaceutical, Food, Beverage, and general packaging industries.

They pride themselves on building, maintaining, and strengthening long term customer relationships by delivering exceptional goods and services. With a highly supportive team culture, they focus on treating staff like adults and valuing genuine output over desk polishing.

THE POSITION

As a Service Technician, you will step into a critical, hands on role reporting directly to the Service Manager and collaborating closely with the business partners. This position is a vital addition to the team to help alleviate operational bottlenecks and support their growing service division.

Your day to day focus will involve:

  • Handling breakdown repairs, general servicing, regular service agreements, and on site modifications.
  • Managing the installation and commissioning of machinery across New South Wales and surrounding areas.
  • Conducting bench work, including the repair, rebuild, and fine mechanical refurbishment of packaging machinery
  • Travelling interstate (QLD, VIC, SA) and internationally (NZ) at short notice, with all travel fully company paid.
  • Acting as the professional face of the company, communicating clearly with clients on site to resolve complex issues.

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking a proactive, autonomous professional with a strong work ethic and a common sense approach to problem solving. You should be highly confident in making logical decisions unsupervised in the field, while maintaining a flexible, happy, and obliging attitude.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working on automated packaging machinery or scientific equipment.
  • Sound mechanical knowledge and strong mechanical fitting skills (e.g., checking bearings, shafts, gearboxes). Experience with workshop tools like a lathe or mill to fabricate parts is highly valued.
  • Proven capability in panel assembly, fault finding, and a solid understanding of electrical or electronic logic.
  • Experience with basic pneumatics and the ability to troubleshoot PLC ladder logic (such as Omron or Mitsubishi).
  • An Electrical Trades certificate (Electrical Fitter) or Post Trade Industrial Electronics qualification is ideal, though proven field capability and diagnostic logic are heavily prioritised.

BENEFITS

  • A strong base salary plus Nissan Navara ST Diesel 6 speed 4 door ute provided with a fuel card and E-Toll tag. Reasonable personal use is permitted.
  • Tools & Equipment: Mobile phone, laptop, high quality PPE, and full uniform provided.
  • Fair Time In Lieu (TIL) Structure
  • Long Term Career Pathway: For a high performing individual, this role offers a genuine, written pathway to future partnership or shareholding in the business.
