Brisbane based, on-site. Permanent full-time. $135,000 – $170,000 + superannuation.

OUR CLIENT A national electrical engineering and manufacturing business, backed by an ASX-listed parent group, delivering packaged electrical solutions — switchboards, motor control centres, modular switchrooms and E-houses — plus automation and site delivery for major water, wastewater, resources and heavy industrial projects. Their Project Solutions division covers design, manufacture, automation and commissioning in-house.

THE OPPORTUNITY Reporting to the National Estimating Manager, you'll own tender submissions for major water and industrial projects across Queensland and New South Wales, then help extend that capability into mining, minerals and metals.

• Bid/no-bid evaluations and tender pipeline management alongside business development
• Full estimates for electrical, instrumentation and automation packages from drawings and specifications
• Take-offs and BOMs: switchboards, MCCs, LV distribution, field instrumentation, cable schedules, containment, site labour
• Supplier and subcontractor quote packages; scope clarifications with clients
• Win strategy, compliant work method statements, risk and qualification schedules
• Structured handover of awarded tenders to Project Managers
• Post-tender review and maintenance of historical cost data

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE (non-negotiable)

• 5+ years estimating electrical and instrumentation packages for a switchboard manufacturer, panel builder, E&I contractor, or electrical contractor's industrial division — water/wastewater, utilities, resources or heavy industrial end markets
• Ability to estimate from P&IDs, single line diagrams, cable schedules, I/O lists and electrical specifications — not just architectural drawings
• Working knowledge of AS/NZS 61439 (switchboard assemblies) and AS/NZS 3000
• Specialist electrical estimating software: WinEst, Espro, CostX, Trimble Accubid, Cordell or equivalent, plus advanced Excel
• Electrical trade qualification (A-grade/electrical licence) or a degree in Electrical Engineering
• Australian work rights; Brisbane based or genuinely relocating

STRONGLY PREFERRED

• Tendering to water utilities and their delivery partners — e.g. Seqwater, Urban Utilities, Sydney Water, Water Corporation — or to tier-one civil/mechanical contractors on water infrastructure alliances (confirm target clients with Tim Sheehy)
• Exposure to PLC/SCADA and automation packages (Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider) within the estimate scope
• Experience pricing HV switchgear, transformers or modular substations
• Familiarity with AS 4000 / AS 4902 style contract conditions and lump-sum D&C tendering

NOT A FIT (so we don't waste your time) Commercial or residential building electrical estimators, data/comms or security-only estimators, solar/renewables-only estimators, general quantity surveyors, HVAC/mechanical estimators, and project engineers or PMs without hands-on tender ownership.
